Sensational Minds, an exclusive African American bookstore was established in February 2007 by owners Don and Genitha Singleton.  The owners noticed that this niche was missing in the community and decided to fulfill the need by opening Sensational Minds, African American Bookstore.  The business served as Savannah, Georgia's only exclusive African American bookstore located on Savannah's southside at 129 E. Montgomery Crossroad in the Oakhurst Shopping Center.

Sensational Minds supports local authors by promoting their book releases and hosting their book signings such as, Robert T.S. Mickels, Sr. author of "Blood Kin - A Savannah Story" and Julia A. Phillips author of "When Jesus Speaks, I Write".  We also held book signings for "Best Selling & Award Winning Authors" such as, Gwynne Foster, Jacquelin Thomas, Sharon Ewell Foster, Vanessa Miller and Phyllis Dixon just to name a few.  The bookstore also promotes children literary activities by hosting story time reading sessions led by Griot Storyteller Jacqui Anderson and other events.

Sensational Minds is an Essence Magazine Best Seller Reporting Bookstore.  The bookstore has received several lead articles in the Savannah Morning News and other community newspapers because of its commitment to serving the local community.

At the end of our first year, we decided to close the storefront location and convert the business to operate as a Mobile and Online Bookstore.  Sensational Minds will continue to promote reading and literary activities by attending health fairs, homecomings, business expos, festivals, trade shows and other events throughout the local area.  In addition, our customers will now enjoy access to thousands of books by and about African Americans by visiting our Online Bookstore.  We are proud to give you access to "Countless Thoughts of Color".
